Carroll Hall’s participation in the OHNY Weekend festival comes in collaboration with Dameron Architecture, the award-winning, Brooklyn-based, multi-disciplinary studio that helped bring the vision for this nature retreat to life. Dameron Architecture specializes in ecology-inspired projects and the art of adaptive reuse, making them a perfect partner for Carroll Hall’s sustainable design ethos. At Carroll Hall, they have skillfully reflected the interdependence between plants, animals, people, and architecture.

Dameron Architecture’s innovative design for Carroll Hall has gained national recognition, including a 2022 AIANY Design Award: Citation for Reclaiming Urban Space and a 2022 Small Project Award for "A Wall Made of Bricks." The buildings "breathe" with automated natural ventilation, while fountains recycle stormwater for irrigation. Handmade mosaic murals, secret doors, and moving walls all contribute to a space where nature and design work in harmony to create a rare, highly specific formal event venue in New York City.

“We love New York City but recognize the need for more time in nature. At Carroll Hall, we bring that sense of discovery, wonder, and the unexpected into every corner of our garden and space,” said Christen, Founder of Carroll Hall. “OHNY Weekend is the perfect opportunity for us to invite the public into our world and share the vision behind our unique event space.”
