Supporting Local Artists
A creative and versatile event space like no other.
Carroll Hall is a rare and unexpected event space featuring a botanic garden in Brooklyn. Whether an eccentric insect or vignette through a wall opening, we revel in curiosity. Ultimately, the garden is the heart of Carroll Hall; the promise of a quiet moment outside is our grounding force.
We are deeply committed to supporting local artists, and aspire to be a palette for creative partnership.
The venue is available for all types of art events from film screenings to theatrical, musical and dance performances, to photoshoots and more… anything that can be envisioned is possible in our space!
Each year we aim to make the venue more accessible with a limited number of special rate packages for art groups. We also hope to nurture young artists and students by offering a location for their process. We encourage you to contact us here for residency inquiries or to start a conversation about how Carroll Hall can best support your next project. We look forward to hearing from you!
Artist Highlights at Carroll Hall
Mosaic Installations
Discovery, wonder, and the unexpected are big themes at Carroll Hall, so much so that they are baked right in to the architectural elements. We commissioned artist Cristina Salas to create floor-to-ceiling handmade mosaic murals that tell stories of underground creatures in our corridors and cosmically inspired restrooms. The below video documents her process for the installation at Carroll Hall titled “The Cosmic Journey of the Star Nosed Mole.”
Bushwick Open Studios
This community festival celebrated local artists and makers with more than 200 events, welcoming the public to preview their work at multiple venues throughout the neighborhood including Carroll Hall and other art galleries, local businesses, parks, and even street corners. Discovery and unique experiences are integral parts of our venue, so showcasing work during Bushwick Open Studios was a natural fit. Aiming to be an artist’s ally, bringing local work to the community is a deeply satisfying endeavor for us at Carroll Hall that we hope to continue exploring and growing.
Play Company Performance
In July 2021, we hosted The Play Company’s fifth installment of writer and director William Burke's IS IT SUPPOSED TO LAST? At a time when our isolation and uncertain futures amplify the need to care for ourselves and try to care for others, the series explored the question "What happens when the nurturers are unable to nurture the people who need them?" For the first time, the series’ final performance allowed for an in-person audience to experience the work. Carroll Hall was thrilled to host this live performance, and hopes this inspires future productions in our garden and warehouse.
